Christ is Risen! He is Risen Indeed!

On April 15th-16th, I’m excited to invite y’all to come join us for the Rise Up! Revival Celebration. You’re surely going to be blessed with great food, inspiring praise and worship, and life-giving message from Rev. Gary Williams. I hope and pray that you make every effort to attend and to invite your family and friends to join us for the revival– seeking God to make our hearts and our lives passionate for Jesus!

What is a “revival”? Perhaps revival is best described by defining what it is not. Revival is not the church deciding to do something. It is not a schedule or an event. It cannot be orchestrated or produced by our own human efforts. Rather, revival is God deciding to do something to His church! Revival comes at the sovereign, gracious decision of God to send a fresh movement of His Spirit among His people. Revival is God moving in our midst through the mighty power of the Holy Spirit.

Revival is not even church growth. A church can be growing numerically but not have revival. When you’re reviving something, the very word says that something is coming back to life!

Therefore, revival is God’s Spirit moving among His people! When God moves, it’s not something we human does. There’s a hymn, “Revive us again; fill each heart with thy love. Let each soul be rekindled with what?” Fire from above! Revival happens when God’s Spirit convicts our hearts, transforms us to be His disciples and empowers us to be the incarnate Jesus to our communities and beyond.

Revival can be best described in the Acts 3:19 where Peter says, “Repent then and turn to God so that your sins may be wiped out and that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.” That is what revival is! It is a time of refreshing that comes from the Lord. It rekindles the fire of the Holy Spirit in the souls of God’s people. When revival comes, some great things will happen! God’s people will have a new passion for prayer and for worship and for God’s Word. When revival comes, you’re going to see a renewed confession and a renewed commitment to discipleship and mission. Then, you’re going to see an increased burden for reaching out to the unchurched and de-churched. Revival is always followed by great numbers of people coming to Jesus Christ.

This Easter season, God’s desire is to revive your spirit and bring revival to Davis Street! The only question that really remains is: Do you have the desire to be revived? Do you want to see revival happens in your families and friends? Do you want to see revival @ Davis Street? If your answer is a resounding YES, then come join us on April 15th & 16th and let us encounter anew the transforming and life-giving power of the Resurrected Christ!
